The Apology

Sometimes Lord, I find it terribly difficult to go back to someone and ask forgiveness. Call it pride, if you must, but there are times when I just hate to admit that I was wrong; I would like to simply forget the whole thing and pretend it never happened. After all, it was just a "little" statement and I didn't even really mean it. Besides, I did ask YOU to forgive me, didn't I? And You always have a forgiving spirit, right? So isn't that enough?

Year after year, that "little" statement keeps coming back to my mind, almost as if to haunt me. Lord, didn't You say in Your Word that You would forgive and forget? Then why must I be tormented with those words so long ago spoken?

It's been many years since I've seen her Lord; here we are now face to face again. Could it be dear Lord that even though I didn't really mean what I said to her that maybe she is still hurt by those bitter words? Oh Lord, forgive me for being so insensitive to my friend. How was she to know I didn't mean to hurt her. How my words must sting her even now as we stand here afraid to speak.

"I'm sorry friend.
Please forgive me for the cruel thing
I said to you so long ago."

As we embrace in a gentle hug, Lord, You wipe away all bitterness between us and once again we can love each other as the past is forever forgotten.

Thank you Lord for teaching me the importance of not only asking You for forgiveness, but also to ask the person I offend to forgive me.

To Ask Forgiveness or Not
Asking for forgiveness is not always easy, but essential for healing to occur in our lives.
We may ask God to forgive (and He does),
but until we go to the person we offended,
it lingers inside us; little by little,
eating away at our peace.

Is the Lord gently reminding you about a person you hurt? Then please, don't hesitate to let that person know you are sorry. When you do, God can begin the healing process within your heart.

Let the healing begin

Is pride holding you back?
Please email us so we can pray with you.
