The Gift
I am not a poet or great writer. My only gifts are mostly unrealized. Without a doubt, I'm a lucky man that has received a very special gift. This gift means the world to me. I can not hope to find a way to show my appreciation or gratitude with the simple words that trickle from my mind. Never the less, I will try.
I prayed to God for a gift. As any child asks their father, it seemed only a wishful thing. I had searched on my own for thirty-three years without any success. The woman, the love, that I longed for did not seem to exist.

With tear filled eyes and a heart of desperation, I finally did as I should have from the start; I turned to my heavenly Father. Even now I remember the words I spoke to Him...

"Lord God, Father please hear me and look down on my distress. I've searched and searched and although I had found something, it didn't seem right. I've seen and met many women; they were nice and kind but none were right. There was no "click". God please help me here. Lord, I'm looking for a woman that may not exist; only you know if she does. Lord, I am asking now that if she does, could you send her to me. She is beautiful I know but I've never seen her. Her face is hidden in clouds. But one thing Lord, the only important thing is that she must love you more than I love you."

So many times, disappointment and sadness are the results of not hearing from God. I was overjoyed and stood in awe at the answer I received.

The answer was five foot tall and nothing like I had planned. She wasn't a disappointment though because she was exactly what I had asked for. You see, I didn't ask for money, fame, or a trophy wife. I asked for love and a holy woman. That was exactly what I got.

When one of us are weak, we lean on the other. The others' strength supports us both as we seek the face of God.

In our times of good and bad, no one can shake our foundation.

We are lovers and friends.

We are grounded in Christ; in Him we will always stand.

It saddens me to hear other men discussing their wives and referring to them as "the ball and chain" or "battle ax".

How could they be right? They are either selfish men or very mistaken.

Overall, I wonder if they had asked God for guidance; or did they even factor God into the equation.

In times of defeat, I feel my wife's hands running through my hair.

Though her heart may be begging to cry inside, she stands tall and strong for my sake.

Her heart is of gold and her thoughts are so pure. She is more than I truly deserve.

Thank you Lord for sending her to me and for granting my prayer.
But there is just one other thing I have to ask; Lord, don't ever let me let her down.

"Who can find a virtuous women?

For her price is far above rubies."

Proverbs 31:10

God granted my hearts desire with the gift of a virtuous woman. The love we share is most important to me and I will always be thankful to God for bringing us together.

But there is yet another gift that is more precious than diamonds, more costly than gold, and more precious than silver.

That gift is God's very own Son Jesus.

When you receive the gift of Jesus, the search to understand life's meaning comes to an end; the void in your life is completely fulfilled.

Are you searching for something to bring significance to your life? You don't have to look any further.
